They are performance-based and spread out across the production runs as a component of the product COGS.

Case Study:
An electronics manufacturer based out of Texas wanted to enter a lower cost segment with a new variation on one of their popular product lines. Assuming a price point could be achieved, their distribution channel confirmed annual demand for 80,000 pcs. The printed circuit board assembly was targeted for direct offshoring and the REDUxCOMPLETETM process was launched with MistyWest completing the fee-based concept, ideation and prototyping and managed small batch production phase.
The distribution channel responded positively, as anticipated, and REDUxEngineering launched the contingency-based productization phase with design for manufacturing, material science, design for logistics and design for inspection cost-reduction refinements to the design, followed by managed offshoring savings for volume, low-cost/high quality volume manufacturing.
The project took eight months. The initial domestic PCBA production had a cost of $65 per unit. The optimized offshore product came in at a landed cost of $65 per unit or a 24% savings. The initial run of 80,000 units realized a savings, after REDUx, of $1,600,000 annually.
